Real-Time Data & Monitoring

Why Real-Time Data Matters

For critical infrastructure and industrial operations, the gap between "what's happening now" and "what we find out at the next scheduled check" is where risk lives. Periodic inspection and batch reporting mean that if a condition changes between checks, nobody knows until the next cycle - by which point a minor issue may have become a costly one. Real-time data acquisition closes that gap: sensors report continuously, and the system reacts the moment a condition warrants attention, not on a fixed schedule.

Our Approach

We build real-time monitoring systems around MQTT, a lightweight publish-subscribe protocol designed for exactly this kind of continuous sensor data - efficient enough for constrained devices, and resilient to the intermittent connectivity that's common at remote or industrial sites. Sensors publish data continuously to an MQTT broker, and our backend systems subscribe to that stream for live processing, storage, and alert logic, rather than polling for updates on a delay.

Where local processing reduces latency or bandwidth needs, we push logic to the edge - close to the sensors themselves - rather than routing every reading through a central server before any decision can be made. Combined with automated alerting that reaches people directly (via SMS/GSM, not just a dashboard someone has to be watching), this gives operations teams genuine 24/7 coverage rather than monitoring that only works during business hours.

Technology Stack

  • MQTT (Mosquitto broker): continuous, lightweight sensor data transport built for unreliable networks.
  • Node.js: real-time backend processing, alert logic, and dashboard serving.
  • MariaDB / MySQL: durable historical storage for trend analysis, not just live snapshots.
  • GSM/SMS alerting: notifications that reach maintenance teams directly, independent of internet access at the site.
  • Python: data processing and reporting logic alongside the real-time pipeline.

Applications

Infrastructure Health Monitoring

Continuous structural monitoring for bridges and critical infrastructure, replacing periodic manual inspection.

Industrial Equipment Monitoring

Real-time visibility into machine health and operating conditions.

Remote Site Monitoring

Systems designed for locations where reliable internet connectivity can't be assumed.

Automated Reporting Dashboards

Live dashboards paired with SMS alerting, so critical events reach the right people immediately.

Our Bridge Health Monitoring System (BHMS) for Servm Advance Systems Private Limited, built for Indian Railways, is a live example of this architecture in production - delivering 99.2% uptime with continuous structural monitoring across multiple bridge sites.
