IoT (Internet of Things) and embedded systems development is the practice of building connected sensor and device networks that collect real-world data and act on it - continuously and automatically, without waiting for a person to check in. Instead of relying on manual readings or periodic inspections, sensors deployed on physical equipment, structures, or environments stream data in real time to a processing system that can store it, analyze it, and trigger alerts the moment something needs attention. For infrastructure and industrial operations, that shift from periodic to continuous monitoring is often the difference between catching an issue early and discovering it after it's already caused downtime or damage.
We've built IoT systems for structural health monitoring - most notably a real-time Bridge Health Monitoring System (BHMS) for Indian Railways, continuously tracking structural conditions that were previously assessed only through periodic manual inspection. Beyond infrastructure monitoring, IoT applications we work on include industrial equipment monitoring (tracking machine health and performance in real time), environmental and remote-site monitoring where connectivity can't be assumed to be reliable, and alerting systems that need to reach people directly rather than sit in a dashboard no one is watching at the critical moment.
What connects these use cases is the same underlying requirement: continuous, reliable data collection from physical sensors, delivered to the people who need to act on it, even at sites with limited or intermittent connectivity.
We build IoT systems around MQTT, a lightweight publish-subscribe messaging protocol purpose-built for constrained devices and unreliable networks - the reality at most remote industrial and infrastructure sites. Sensors publish readings to an MQTT broker, and a backend service subscribes to that data stream for processing, storage, and alert logic. This architecture handles intermittent connectivity gracefully, rather than assuming a constant, reliable internet connection that many real-world deployment sites simply don't have.
For alerting, we integrate GSM modules so that critical notifications reach maintenance and operations teams via SMS directly to their phones - independent of whether internet connectivity is available at the exact moment an alert needs to go out. This has proven essential for infrastructure sites where cellular coverage is more reliable than broadband internet.
Every deployment starts with understanding your specific sensors, site conditions, and who needs to receive which alerts, rather than starting from a generic IoT platform template and fitting your use case into it.
Our Bridge Health Monitoring System (BHMS), built for Servm Advance Systems Private Limited for Indian Railways, is a real-time IoT deployment monitoring bridge structural health continuously across multiple sites, delivering 99.2% uptime and cutting inspection turnaround time by 40% compared to the manual inspection process it replaced.
